Let’s talk about the Financial Viability

Friday Nov 13, 2009

We are not talking about ‘rocket science’, but have developed a ’state of the art’ adaption and introduction of a kiln from existing designs that is not only self sustaining but has the capability of generating surplus energy and is able to handle most raw materials.  Because of its design and simplicity the components are readily available and affordable.  Nothing is complex.

The size of the kiln is determined by the market demand and it’s output capacity adapted so that different size kilns can be made both static and mobile.

The majority of the end products are lightweight and sold on a volume basis e.g kilograms per cubic metre - kgs/m3.

The unique process converts 1000 kg of waste raw material approx. 1m3 by increasing this volume to up to 25 times!

Activated carbons are sold on a weight basis not on volume as are solid fuel beads.

An Example:
A raw material costing $100 per tonne delivered into works can be processed realising over $1000.  If producing high grade pharmaceutical activated carbons, these can cost over $400 per kg!! (all imported and sold by weight).  Barbeque beads are currently selling retail at $2 per kg (by weight) or $2000 per tonne

Raw Material Required

Friday Nov 13, 2009

Only 8000 tonnes of raw material per annum is required, for a fully operational commercial plant which is negligible to make the operation very viable!

Take wheat for instance, over 20 million tonnes of wheat is produced per annum in a good season without the dust and husks.  Cereals are grown in many areas and rejects are plentiful.

The plant can be on a small scale as a cottage industry to supply local markets or a full scale commercial plant with export potential.

Community Benefits Creating Wealth

Friday Nov 13, 2009

The establishment of the plant creates stable employment with the employees drawn locally and local growers supplying the raw materials.

With the diversity of the plant and numerous products, ancillary industries are formed which can compete in the marketplace.

Producation of:

  • Lightweight building panels and blocks
  • Insulation - Fire retardants either in loose form or batts
  • Soil improvers as porous beads
  • Fuel beads
  • Manufactures of filters and purifier systems
  • Oil spill socks
  • Production of stock feed

Recent Developments

Friday Nov 13, 2009

In April 2009, Eco Carbons was invited by the Queensland State Government, Austrade and the Gold Coast City Council’s trade delegation to the Shanghai EPTEE Environmental Protection Expo.  This is China’s largest and most influential expo, where delegates from around teh world can demonstrate their products and services.  Eco Carbons was overwhelmed by the reaction and enthusiasm expressed from the Chinese and numerous foreign participants.

Since then two trade delegations from Shanghai have returned to the Gold Coast Shire Offices to open up negotiations with the company involving joint ventures and licensing.

The company has been requested by Eco Forum to present a paper at their Conference in Sydney on the 23 & 24th February 2010.

Bamboo

Friday Nov 13, 2009

There is continuing interest in this remarkable plant which is termed a ‘green plant’ with all it’s inherent environmental benefits.  Reserach and development conducted by the company confirms the extensive work in Asia where the plant has been proven in it’s performance and qualities as an important plant which offers many solutions to our environmental problems.

Eco Carbons has conducted trials on bamboo as a suitable charcoal to produce fuel and activated carbons.  The results have proven very positive, which confirms the work already undertaken in India and China.

Eco Carbons is now a member and supporter of the Bamboo Society of Australia and recommends that those interested in this remarkable plant apply for membership.  The whole family can become involved.  Contact Kevin Lang, The Treasurer, Bamboo Society of Australia.

Green Roofing

Friday Nov 13, 2009

The company has submitted samples to Melbourne University because of their interest in Green Roofing, which is also gaining interest worldwide.  Our lightweight carbon beads can lend itself to this application.

Refer to the National Geographic Magazine article ‘Up on the roof’ May 2009 edition.  There is information on this subject on the Internet.
